In his speech to an episode of "Without Borders" program (2021/12/29), he affirmed his conviction that it was not possible to hold the elections on time, in light of the lack of political consensus, security discipline and the popular base, in addition to the absence of consensual laws necessary to conduct the elections.
Regarding the position of the Libyan citizen, he indicated that the Libyans wanted the elections to be held, but they were afraid that the elections would be unfair.
He added that there was a general feeling among the Libyans and the politicians running for the difficulty of holding these elections, despite the candidacy of some who tried to relieve themselves of embarrassment or for a political maneuver, or according to the desire of some external parties - which he did not name - to impose a fait accompli in the country after the failure of many options .
Al-Mashri stressed that foreign interventions in Libya since 2012 have obstructed the completion of the revolution in Libya and created a political vacuum after weakening the political forces through the externally funded local media.
United Nations intrusion
On the role of the United Nations in Libya, Al-Mishri accused the international organization of obstructing the path of political consensus in Libya since 2011, and of being intrusive bodies on the peoples of the third world and do not want to solve their problems in order not to deduct money from them. He also accused the United Nations delegate supervising the elections since The year 2011 received a lot of money without doing anything.
He added that the Libyan people have reached a conviction of the need for a rapprochement between the Libyans away from the mediation of the United Nations and its bad management, and in this regard, he indicated that the House of Representatives and the Supreme Council of State agreed that a rapprochement should take place between them, and confidence-building measures have already begun between the two parties, "and they will be sitting at a table." Dialogue soon.
He stressed that dispelling the fears between the House of Representatives and the Supreme State Council will lead to dispelling the fears of the two active countries in the Libyan scene, namely Turkey and Egypt, and this consensus leads to solving many problems, warning at the same time against the lack of consensus because this will create a new situation worse than the previous situation.
Al-Mashri concluded his speech by emphasizing his quest to meet Parliament Speaker Aguila Saleh and avoid meeting retired Major General Khalifa Haftar, while working to speed up the implementation of the laws regulating the elections while changing the High Electoral Commission without external interference in order to expedite the conduct of elections in a free and transparent manner.
