According to a report by the Russian Satellite News Agency on December 27, since the floods in the northeastern Brazilian state of Bahia in early November, 18 people have been killed, 286 injured, more than 430,000 people have been affected, and 72 cities and towns have declared a state of emergency.

  Last weekend, when a dam collapsed in heavy rain, the local government issued an early warning on social media to remind nearby residents to evacuate urgently.

Brazil’s Minister of Civil Affairs, Joao Roma, stated that the Brazilian Ministry of Health will send more than 90 doctors to Bahia to help the people affected by the disaster.
