In front of New Year's Eve, at Chion-in in Kyoto, a "trial" of the Joya no kane was held on the 27th.

Every year at Chion-in in Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto, we celebrate the New Year with a big bell that is 3 meters high.

On the 27th, about 30 monks gathered and tried it out.

The Joya no kane of Chion-in is known for its unique method of striking a 4-meter-long stick called "hammerhead shark" with a number of ropes attached to it. ..

Then, when another person took a posture of hanging on a rope and struck a bell with momentum, the solemn sound of the bell echoed around.

At Chion-in, in order to prevent infection, worship during the time when the joya no kane is ringing is limited to those who have applied in advance, and this time the capacity has already reached 400 people.

Butler Junkei Osaki said, "It seems that the monks have regained their senses for the first time in a year. I want to reach the stage next year, keeping in mind that the corona will converge."
