Christmas comes to an end and, with a little luck, there are days of reading ahead of us.

In fact, for many people, the time between the years is one of the best opportunities to immerse themselves in books: the quiet is there, the sofa, the armchair is already waiting, new books are here - or there are still a few more of this year's new publications, the we saved ourselves until the end.

This episode of the books podcast is about reading: about the desire to read and how to live with it, give in to it, keep it awake, pass it on, what it does to it, when you write books yourself or when you do Teaching literature when you, as a teacher, show young people excerpts from a world in which you feel so comfortable yourself.

We talked about this with two guests: Berit Glanz is a writer, her novel “Pixeltänzer” was published two years ago, and “Automaton” will be published by Berlin Verlag in February.

Maike Bartl is a teacher and reader in Hamburg, she takes care of how schoolchildren come into contact with literature - and what they come across in their Abitur.

Finally, you can hear a poem from the Frankfurt anthology, which is also about reading: “Dreifaches Ritornell” by Georg von der Vring.

Every Sunday morning, the FAZ books podcast alternates between conversations about books and topics, interviews with authors, readings, literary puzzles and recitations from the Frankfurt anthology.

All episodes and other articles on the topics discussed can be found here.

You can easily subscribe to the podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or Deezer and never miss a new episode.
