A flight experiment of a "flying car", which is expected to be put into practical use in the future as a new means of transportation, was conducted in Kasaoka City, Okayama Prefecture.

A "flying car" is a vehicle that uses drone technology to carry people and things and fly electrically. Kurashiki City's general incorporated association "MASC" is aiming to commercialize it in Japan.

The "flying car" used in the experiment was developed by a Chinese manufacturer and has a total length of 5.8 meters. It can carry up to 260 kg and can accommodate up to two humans.

The experiment was conducted at Kasaoka Fureai Airport in the reclaimed land of Kasaoka City, and while more than 50 people including local business and industry officials were watching, when it emerged vertically up to 30 meters above the sky, it over 1 km over the runway and nearby fields. I flew for about 5 minutes.

In Japan, the legislation has not been developed yet, so no one can ride on it. This time, instead, we carried 60 kilometers of rice and flew a pre-programmed route.

In the future, it is expected to be used in the tourism field such as transportation of goods to remote islands and air taxi, and Kurashiki City's group is aiming to fly with people at the 2025 Osaka Expo.

Hiroshi Sakanoue, Executive Secretary of "MASC", said, "The climate of the Seto Inland Sea is mild and there are many remote islands, so it is suitable for flying cars. In the future, we would like to proceed with flight experiments in various regions and aim for practical use." Was there.
