[Explanation] On December 20, the election results of the seventh legislative council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region came into being.

According to Annex II of the newly revised Hong Kong Basic Law, the membership of the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has increased from 70 to 90, including 40 members elected by the Election Committee, 30 members elected by functional constituencies, and 20 members directly elected by districts.

A few days ago, a number of newly-elected members accepted an exclusive interview with a reporter from China News Agency, discussing their feelings about participating in the election under the new election system and discussing the direction of their future participation in politics.

[Explanation] Elected Member Chen Manqi said that this Legislative Council election once again demonstrated the progressiveness and superiority of the new electoral system. It is a further implementation of the principle of "patriots ruling Hong Kong" and a successful practice of democracy with Hong Kong characteristics.

I believe that the electoral system this time can absorb the voices of every class in Hong Kong. Members of us, including me, will bring the voices of the people into the Legislative Council to supervise the Hong Kong (SAR) government. It is people-centered and don’t forget. Original intention.

I hope to lead Hong Kong and integrate into the country's development with the general public, because Hong Kong citizens all hope that the country will be prosperous and strong, and Hong Kong will be prosperous and stable forever.

[Explanation] Recalling the election experience in the past period of time, the elected member of Parliament Ge Peifan told a reporter from China News Agency that participating in the election of the Election Committee is a new experience and a huge challenge for him.

In the future, she will mainly focus on promoting the development of innovation and technology, environmental protection and women's affairs.

In fact, it is really difficult. It is necessary to meet so many people in such a short time. Experts in every field have many different opinions and their focus is different.

Then we ran more than 70 meetings. In fact, it was a challenge for every candidate, so it was also a big challenge for me. Basically, I feel very honored to be supported by so many people.

In the future, I have said my key points many times before. Promoting the development of science and technology in Hong Kong, the development of innovation and technology, and environmental protection and women’s affairs are also my priorities. Therefore, in the future, I will cooperate with other Members who are concerned about the same issues. I hope that in the Legislative Council. Can promote the development of these aspects.

[Explanation] Elected Member Tan Yueheng said that through personal participation, he personally felt the broad representativeness and balanced participation of this election. Previously, the attacks and smears against Hong Kong's democracy by a few Western countries were self-defeating.

We held more than 100 meetings in more than a month of this campaign, and met with more than 1,000 election committees. These 1,000 election committees are not simply 1,000 people. They are supported by millions of voters. The people support it, so I think the reform of Hong Kong’s electoral system was successful. Judging from this election, it was a success. Some smears and some distortions are unfounded and self-defeating.

[Explanation] Tan Yueheng said that as an elected member of the Election Committee, he deeply feels the heavy responsibility. From now on, he will participate in and discuss politics in the interests of the general public in Hong Kong for the well-being of the Hong Kong people.

So after being elected as a member of the Council, I feel that the responsibility is heavy, because in the past we may have contributed to and contributed to Hong Kong in a certain field, and then we will be members of the Legislative Council, and we are from the Election Committee sector. We must stand in The overall interests of the whole of Hong Kong stand in the fundamental interests of the general public in Hong Kong to discuss issues and participate in politics.

Because the composition of the Legislative Council has functional constituencies and regional direct elections, regional direct elections may be the local interests of a certain area, and the interests of a certain industry in the functional constituency may have to be voiced. The committee is to comprehensively consider all aspects of the situation to balance the interests of all parties, so I think the future is a long way to go, and this is still the beginning.
