In order to support new nurses who were not able to receive practical training in the medical field when they were students due to the influence of the new coronavirus, a medical university is conducting another training program for graduates in Kanagawa Prefecture. increase.

This training is being carried out jointly by Shonan University of Medical Sciences in Kanagawa Prefecture with affiliated hospitals, and on the 20th, three new nurses who got a job at a medical institution in the prefecture participated.

Due to the prolonged new corona, medical institutions are accepting infected people and restricting the entry of people from outside to prevent nosocomial infections, making it difficult for nursing students to practice.

In the training, new nurses experience nursing in a clinical department different from the usual workplace such as gastroenterology and emergency, and quickly grasp the condition of the person who was transported by emergency from senior nurses and university teachers. I received guidance such as procedures.

This year's newcomers couldn't do what they wanted, and in many cases they felt uneasy after going to the scene, so the three participants were learning with a serious look.

One of the newcomers who participated said, "I was worried even after I got a job because only about half of my seniors could take the training. It was helpful to learn again in a different atmosphere from my current place of employment."

Associate Professor Noriko Katayama of Shonan University of Medical Science said, "While there is a shortage of nurses due to the response to the new corona, the quality of medical care will deteriorate if newcomers quit. I want to continue. "
