Too few are covered and the support is too complicated.

This is how the industry sums up the situation for the country's dance band.

The call has been signed by Folkets hus och parker, Musikerförbundet, Bygdegårdarnas riksförbund and famous dance bands such as Lasse Stefanz, Vikingarna, Larz Kristerz, Donnez, Barbados and Sannex.

- It is an industry that has been in crisis many times before, but this is and remains the biggest and most serious crisis the industry has gone through, it is a steel bath like no other, says Joakim Olsson Agerskov, amusement organizer, Grevieparken in Båstad.

New restrictions

Dance band dancing leaves no opportunity to keep distance and has therefore had a hard time existing during the pandemic.

Even when the restrictions eased, they did not have time to fully recover.

- The dance band scene started on September 29 when cultural Sweden reopened, but there was an audience drop - 30, 35 percent.

In the current situation, when the spread of infection increases and we are drawn with new restrictions, we lose again.

Today up to 75 percent, he says.

The appeal states that the dance bands are not compensated for loss of audience, but can only receive compensation if events are canceled completely and then not the entire amount.

This, according to the signatories, is a severe blow to an industry that has already suffered severe strains during the pandemic.

It is now hoped that the support will be changed to be able to cover audience losses.
