Hospitals continue to fill up in France, where more than 15,400 patients with Covid-19 are cared for, including nearly 3,000 people in critical care, according to data released Friday by Public Health France.

A total of 15,410 people were hospitalized on Friday, including 1,449 new admissions in the past 24 hours.

As of Friday, hospitals welcomed more than 13,600 Covid patients.

2.901 patients in critical care

Critical care services, where the most serious cases are treated, had 2,901 coronavirus patients, up from 2,498 a week earlier. Between Thursday and Friday, these services received 301 new serious cases. In the past 24 hours, 163 patients have died from Covid in hospital. Since the start of the epidemic, 121,333 people have died from the Covid.

Since the end of October, the pressure on hospitals has gradually increased.

The government fears a saturation of hospitals with the approach of the end of year holidays, in particular because of staff on leave during this period.

Especially since the number of new daily cases is on a high range.

Their number had reached an unprecedented level (65,713) on Wednesday since the beginning of April.

Over the past 24 hours, 58,128 new cases have been diagnosed.

The government wants to introduce a "vaccine pass"

In an attempt to stem the progression of the highly contagious variant Omicron, the executive announced Friday evening that it will present at the start of the year a bill to convert the health pass into a "vaccine pass", which cannot be activated only with a complete vaccination schedule and no longer by a simple negative test.

In terms of vaccination, 52,460,157 people have received at least one injection (ie 77.8% of the total population) and 51,398,701 people are now fully vaccinated (ie 76.2% of the total population).
