Pink notebook at the Allier animal and leisure park, located in Dompierre-sur-Besbre.

For the third time in less than ten years, the zoo has witnessed the birth of a little hippo, named Pablo.

The animal was born on November 29 and is doing very well, reports

La Montagne

.

He already weighed about sixty kilos when he came into the world.

For the time being, the baby is staying with his parents, Émile and Image, in a winter building specially designed for hippos.

In spring, he can join his fellows in a one-hectare park dedicated to the species.

Visitors will be able to discover Pablo from April 16, the PAL reopening date.

Sent to another park in a few months

But the small mammal will only be visible for a few months because it will eventually join another park, like its siblings (born in 2014 and 2018) before it.

This is "to avoid possible conflicts with the father", explain the healers to our colleagues.

And thus to preserve as much as possible this endangered species.
