One Piece

ready to set a new record?

Released just a week ago, volume 100 of Eiichiro Oda's manga has sold 131,270 copies in just three days, announces Glénat, according to data from the GFK institute.

"This feat makes

One Piece

volume 100 the No. 1 in sales of the book market on its launch week", rejoices its publisher in the press release.

And it's not over.

Apart from this new chapter in the adventures of Luffy, eagerly awaited, Glénat specifies that volume 1 of

One Piece

"continues to please and attract new readers".

As proof, the 11,843 copies sold over the same week, or 260,000 over the whole of 2021.

A print run of 250,000 copies

The success is up to the expectations of the publisher, since volume 100 was printed in 250,000 copies for its release, the largest circulation of all time for a manga.

These prints include the classic manga from this chapter but also a collector's edition with its faux leather cover.

Will

One Piece

dethrone the great bookstore success that is

Asterix and the Griffon

 ?

As revealed by

Le Parisien in

mid-November, the latest adventures of the Gauls had sold more than 1.2 million copies in less than a month.

A challenge that the manga phenomenon could take up.
