On December 14, the reporter went to the Qingtongxia-Zhongwei section of the Wuma (Wuhai City in Inner Mongolia to Maqin County, Inner Mongolia) expressway in Ningxia to visit China's first expressway to cross the hinterland of the Tengger Desert.

The main line from Qingtongxia to Zhongwei section of Wuma Expressway has a total length of 122.9 kilometers, of which 18 kilometers pass through the hinterland of the Tengger Desert.

It is reported that the Qingtongxia-Zhongwei section of the Uma Expressway will be opened to traffic at the end of December. After opening to traffic, it will not only effectively divert the traffic volume of the Beijing-Tibet Expressway, relieve the traffic pressure on the Ningxia road network, but also allow passengers to stop in the rugged and majestic desert.
