Metro tickets are edible in Berlin!

This week, Berlin's Transport Authority is offering an edible hemp-oil-flavored ticket that allows passengers to "absorb the stress" they feel from the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis, or go shopping before Christmas.

"Those who want to spend Christmas in a relaxed state can do so with us," PVG, which operates buses, trams and metros in Berlin, said in a video.

The company, known for its deliberate marketing campaigns, explained that it had created a "cannabis ticket", available until Friday, with the aim of combating "Christmas stress".

She noted that the one-day ticket, priced at 8.80 euros, was made of edible paper impregnated with a thin layer of cannabis oil, with a "maximum of three drops".

After their 24-hour expiration date, they can be eaten. Hemp oil is legal in Berlin, given that hemp seeds, unlike flowers, do not contain psychoactive substances such as THC or CBD.

The transport authority stressed that the campaign does not constitute any position in the debate over the legalization of cannabis, which the new German government intends to allow to be sold in authorized stores.

The authority stressed that it is "against any form of drug abuse."
