Last month, the captain of a cargo ship explained to the Fukuoka Coast Guard that he had "misunderstood the lighthouse installed on the breakwater" about the accident in which a cargo ship collided with a breakwater at Hakata Port in Fukuoka City. I found out by interviewing the people concerned.

On the night of the 28th of last month, a Panama-registered cargo ship "LADY ROSEMARY (9576 tons)" collided with a breakwater and got on board at Hakata Port in Fukuoka City immediately after leaving the port.

The 22 crew members of the ship were not injured.

The Fukuoka Coast Guard is investigating on the suspicion of the danger of accidental traffic in business, but in response to the investigation so far, the 70-year-old captain of the cargo ship said, "I misunderstood the lighthouse on the breakwater. I noticed just before the collision, but I could not make it in time. I found out in an interview with the people concerned that I explained that it was.

According to the people concerned, the cargo ship leaving Hakata Port was originally planned to pass between the lighthouse that emits green light on the right side and the lighthouse that emits red light on the left side toward the open sea of the central route, but further to the left side. It seems that it was mistaken for another lighthouse that emits the same red light.

The Fukuoka Coast Guard has a policy of sending documents to the captain on suspicion of accidental traffic accidents, considering that the misunderstanding of the lighthouse led to the accident.
