It is a judgment "which will set a precedent", according to the Confédération Paysanne.

Friday, the agricultural union learned of the decision of the administrative court of Rennes to cancel the prefectural decree which authorized the construction of a giant henhouse in Langoëlan, in Morbihan.

"A significant victory", according to the union, which had taken legal action with the support of the association Eau et Rivières de Bretagne.

The attacked prefectural decree concerned the environmental authorization granted to a farm which provided for 120,000 poultry within the EARL of Kermaria.

Two henhouses of 2,200 m² were planned to accommodate these hens for 45 days.

Mobilized against this giant henhouse, they opposed notably denounced the inadequacies in the environmental impact studies of the project.

In its annulment conclusions, the administrative court noted that the impact study did not mention "the possible effects of ammonia fallout" while "houses are located less than 400 meters from the henhouses and the area composting ”.

"Inaccuracies, omissions and inadequacies"

In this small town located on the border of Morbihan and Côtes d'Armor, near a Natura 2000 zone, the population would have been potentially exposed and above all poorly informed, according to the justice system.

The court points to “the inaccuracies, omissions and inadequacies of the impact study”.

On November 20, about 200 people gathered in Langoëlan, a town of 400 inhabitants, to denounce this giant henhouse project "never seen in France", according to the Collective against factory farms.
