Some internet users are convinced that the number of aircraft pilots who died in 2021 is up considerably compared to 2020 and 2019 because of the vaccination against Covid-19.
They want as proof a list which seems to indicate a much higher number of deaths in the current year than in the previous two.
If this list is authentic, the pilots association which published it specified that it did not contain all the data for the years concerned, and that it included both active pilots and retirees.
After the unfounded rumor around the pilot of Delta Airlines vaccinated against the Covid-19 who would have died in full flight, then the intoxication on the ban of flight envisaged for the vaccinated passengers for fear that they do not make a thrombosis, of the Internet users have again established an unlikely link between aviation and coronavirus vaccination.
For several days, on social networks, a list of pilots who died in 2019, 2020 and 2021 has been circulating. For those who relay this photograph taken from a magazine, the much higher number of deaths in the current year is undoubtedly linked to the anti-Covid-19 vaccination carried out around the world.

This death list is authentic: it appears in the latest issue of
Air Line Pilot
magazine
, published by the Air Line Pilots Association International (Alpa), which represents "more than 61,000 pilots" among 38 US and Canadian airlines.
The deaths of 2019 and 2020 mentioned there are, however, additions to the list of previous years, as the Alpa explained in a press release posted on Twitter: “In each issue of Air Line Pilot magazine, we let us pay tribute to the Alpa pilots - whether they are still active or retired - who have disappeared. Based on verified information provided by their families, we reported the deaths of more pilots in 2019 and 2020 than in 2021. ”
And the association continued: “We report the deaths in our magazine when we receive this information from the families concerned.
Data published in one issue of the magazine does not provide a complete list of the total number of deaths over the years concerned.
”Without any significant increase having been observed in 2021, and even less that a link could be established with the vaccination against Covid-19.
