Donations from the French to associations or people in difficulty are down with an average of 207 euros in 2021, against 213 euros last year.

This is what reveals the 4th edition of the National and Regional Observatory of Generosities, produced by Odoxa for Leetchi and relayed by BFMTV.

The study nevertheless underlines that "the drop in the amount of donations is half as strong as that of 2020", when it was 12 euros.

28% of those surveyed said they made fewer donations this year.

79% of them justify it by the fact that they can simply afford it less, while 58% say they have doubts about the use of their money.

"Give close to home, to a local cause"

The study also shows a willingness of the French to act at the local level.

Thus, 68% of those surveyed revealed that they made donations in kind and 33% engaged in voluntary actions.

They are also 43% to favor local causes, against 41% national causes and 14% international causes.

"A trend that recalls their need for transparency: giving close to home, to a well-identified local cause, reassures", explains the report.
