The number of homeless people has increased in Brest since 2015, but it is not known how many they really are.

To find out, the town hall will organize a Solidarity Night on January 20, reports France Bleu Breizh Izel.

City officials and volunteers will therefore identify homeless people by touring the neighborhoods.

For the moment, the municipality only holds the figures of the Communal Center for Social Action (CCAS).

"In one year, they met 450 different people in the street and welcomed 850 people on their daytime reception", details one to the town hall.

Assess the needs

By getting in touch with these people who sleep in the street, in their car or with friends, the town hall hopes to assess their needs.

In other cities, these approaches have resulted in the construction of municipal showers or the development of health actions.

Volunteers interested in being part of the teams can contact the city of Brest at 02.98.00.80.80.
