On the warm Boso Peninsula in Chiba Prefecture, beekeepers have begun preparatory work to allow bees to spend the winter.

Since the climate of the southern part of the Boso Peninsula is warm, with rape blossoms and camellias blooming even in winter, beekeepers bring bee hives from the Tohoku region every year at this time of year to overwinter.

Of these, in the Sakuna district in the mountains of Tateyama City, about 30 bee hives used for pollination of apples in Aomori Prefecture were brought in by truck.

One hive contained about 20,000 bees, which were lined up in a sunny place and then checked by a beekeeper.

Reiko Ogata, a beekeeper, said, "Bees are happy because the winter in Tohoku is harsh. I am looking forward to having more children because the queen bee will be born in March." ..

Bees will spend their time on the Boso Peninsula until early May next year when spring arrives in the Tohoku region.
