In order to raise the research level of the university, the country has decided to manage a fund of 10 trillion yen, and the expert meeting is a gathering of world-class researchers on the requirements of the university to allocate the investment profit. We have put together a plan that incorporates such things.

The "University Fund" is a 10 trillion yen fund established by the national government to raise the research level of universities, generate innovation, and lead to economic growth, and allocate investment profits of up to 300 billion yen annually to universities. I plan to support you.

On the 10th, the outline plan on how to utilize the "university fund" and how to evaluate the results was summarized at the specialized study group of the Council for Science, Technology and Innovation.

Among these, the requirements of the university to allocate operational profits are that there is an environment where world-class researchers can gather and play an active role, that excellent doctoral course human resources can be trained, and that young researchers can conduct research in an independent environment. And so on.

The amount to be allocated is expected to be several tens of billions of yen per university per year, and the number of universities to be allocated is several, but the policy is to increase it in stages.

The national government will start managing the funds within this year, decide the allocation destination after next year, and want to start the allocation from 2024.
