It is now impossible to buy alcoholic drinks to take away in Boulogne-Billancourt (Hauts-de-Seine) on a day of a PSG football match at the Parc des Princes in Paris.

The prefect Laurent Hottiaux signed a decree to this effect taking effect on Tuesday, reports Actu Hauts-de-Seine.

The ban is valid for the entire 2021-2022 football season.

No purchase of alcohol before and after matches

It will therefore remain in force until at least May 2022.

The decree applies during the "five hours preceding the meeting and until one hour and thirty minutes after its completion", specifies the text.

The local authorities justified this measure by their desire to limit “disturbances to public order during football matches”.

These are regularly the work of "highly alcoholic individuals" according to the prefecture.

They tend to buy their drinks in grocery stores near the stadium and drink them in public spaces.

The relationship between the marketing of alcohol and disorders is not in doubt according to the police.
