Saudi Arabia .. "Botox", "filler" and a face-lift remove dozens of camels from a beauty contest

The Saudi authorities have excluded more than 40 camels from participating in the sixth King Abdulaziz Camel Festival.

According to a report published by the Saudi Press Agency "SPA", the festival management excluded any of the camels that had been subjected to any "form of tampering", as some owners "improve the general appearance" of camels "in order to obtain a prize or increase their price and deceive those who wish to buy them." .

Camel breeders are competing for prizes estimated at $66 million, according to a report published by ABC, where it is forbidden to use Botox injections or face-lifts to make camels more attractive.

"SPA" indicates that a medical committee is conducting a "clinical examination" using special equipment, including x-rays, three-dimensional sonar devices, in addition to medical tests to analyze genes.

Camels are "tampered with" by performing "cosmetic operations, which help in harmony with the apparent gratitude of the camels, to follow specific beauty standards" sought by camel owners.

Some "put rubber bands" or perform what is known as "stacking" operations, which cause infections and congestion in certain areas of camels, or use various cosmetic injection materials that use "silicone and fillers".

The festival is held annually, and includes cultural, economic, sports and entertainment activities, with the aim of "rooting the camel heritage" and promoting it in Saudi culture.
