After ten years of restoration, the national first-class cultural relic, the Baojian Drum of Hubei Yichang Museum Town Hall was officially unveiled on December 8.

The built drum is 47 cm in diameter and 59.4 cm in length. It is dug out of a whole piece of golden nanmu and weighs 22 kg. The drum body is painted with black primer, and the whole body is covered with red deformed curved patterns and covered with cowhide.

The construction drum was unearthed in No. 12 tomb of Zhaoxiang in Dangyang in 1988. It was severely decayed when it was unearthed. After ten years of hard work by experts from the Jingzhou Cultural Relics Protection Center, it was restored in November this year.

The construction drum is a relatively large and complete object that can be preserved in China at present, and it has extremely important value for the study of pre-Qin music, military, art and lacquered wood craftsmanship.
