While the infection of the new mutant virus "Omicron strain" of the new corona is being confirmed one after another in Japan, Iwate Prefecture has decided to conduct a genetic analysis to check whether it is the Omicron strain for all the people who have been confirmed to be infected with the new corona. I did.

If it is not a Delta strain, the policy is to have it hospitalized in a dedicated bed for about 4 to 5 days until the analysis is completed.

Regarding the Omicron strain, the national government is strengthening quarantine at airports, etc., and is also requesting local governments to strengthen the inspection system to prevent community-acquired infections.

In response to this, Iwate Prefecture has decided to conduct genetic analysis to check whether it is an Omicron strain in principle for those who have been confirmed to be infected with the new corona in the prefecture.

On the other hand, screening tests to check for already known mutant viruses such as Delta strains will also be conducted in parallel.

The results of the screening test can be obtained in a few hours, but the gene analysis takes about 4 to 5 days until the results are obtained. Until I get out, I will be hospitalized in a private room dedicated to infectious diseases where the indoor air does not leak to the outside.

In addition, it is a policy for people who have close contact with suspected Omicron strains to observe their health at accommodations rented by the prefecture instead of waiting at home.

Iwate Prefecture says, "I would like to strengthen the inspection system and try not to lead to community-acquired infections."
