. The suspects were indicted on December 3 for "criminal terrorist association" and remanded in custody.

The two men, one of whom is already known to the intelligence services because of his radicalization, met on the Internet where they made disturbing remarks.

The national anti-terrorism prosecutor's office opened a preliminary investigation which led to the arrest of the suspects in Meaux (Seine-et-Marne) and Pecq (Yvelines).

During the searches of their home, investigators obtained a knife, laptops and phones.

By exploiting them, they discovered jihadist literature and Daesh propaganda videos.

Targeted shopping centers and universities

In police custody, one of the two men confessed.

According to him, his accomplice - who was more motivated than him - had offered to attack random passers-by in frequented places such as shopping malls or universities.

The plan then consisted of getting killed by the police in order to die as a martyr.

Remarks disputed by the second suspect who denied having considered carrying out an attack in the name of Daesh.
