The price of the male snow crab "Kano crab" from Ishikawa prefecture, which is known as the taste of winter, soared due to record poor fishing, and some local governments that used to return hometown tax could secure a sufficient number of crabs. It's gone.

In Ishikawa prefecture, 10 local governments have used "Kano crab" as a return item for hometown tax payment this season, but Hakui city, Kahoku city, and Uchinada town have shipped the return item in 3 cities and towns. It means that you are stuck.

Of the 250 donations that Kahoku City received as a reward for "Kano crab" this season, only about 10% have been able to send crabs so far.

In addition to record poor catches, the infection situation of the new coronavirus has settled down and demand for tourists has increased, so prices have soared and we have secured crabs that are within the procurement price, which is said to be less than 30% of the donation amount. The cause is that it cannot be done.

Hiroaki Matsubara, Secretary General of Kahoku City, said, "I'm worried if I can give it this year. I hope that the landing will recover and the price will settle down."

On the other hand, some other local governments in Ishikawa Prefecture have secured crabs by raising the donation amount of snow crabs as a reward from last season in anticipation of soaring prices.
