Okra has amazing benefits for diabetics.

The incidence of diabetes around the world is increasing year by year, and some studies indicate that one vegetable showed glucose-lowering effects in just 30 minutes, green okra, by eating it as a juice.

According to the British newspaper "Express", the thin pods are very low in calories, contain no saturated fats or cholesterol, and some research has shown a decrease in blood sugar levels after soaking cut okra pieces in water overnight and then drinking the juice the next morning.

An Indonesian study published in the journal Rasayan stated that okra juice showed activity to lower blood glucose levels at doses of 25, 50, 100 and 200 mg, and so it has potential to combat diabetes, and separate studies were conducted in India that supported these results and recorded a gradual decrease in glucose in the blood after eating okra.

Besides lowering blood glucose, okra may also be able to reduce cholesterol by binding to molecules in the intestines. Separate research shows that okra can reduce the risk of cancer, particularly colorectal cancer, due to its high concentrations of vitamin A and vitamin C. It's a good source of fiber and perfect for digestion too, but since okra is full of fermentable carbohydrates, it can cause bloating in some cases.
