Faced with the progression of the Covid-19 epidemic, the Montpellier hospital (Hérault) announced this Tuesday afternoon that it was triggering level 2 of its white plan.

"The health situation is developing unfavorably", indicates the CHU.

This Tuesday, 63 patients with Covid-19 were hospitalized at the CHU, including 23 in critical care.

“At the same time, the level of activity outside of Covid-19 is exceptionally high, both for adult emergencies and for pediatric emergencies,” notes the hospital.

These two factors place great strain on the hospitalization capacities of the CHU, in particular for patients requiring critical care.

Reorganization, and prohibited visits

Level 2 of the Montpellier CHU's white plan aims to free up caregivers in order to strengthen hospitalization capacities, particularly in critical care, and to reorganize, to have enough beds.

Some planned hospitalizations will be postponed.

The CHU also invites Montpellier residents not to encumber emergencies, and to come only in case of necessity.

In addition, access to the CHU is now limited to patients only.

Accompanying persons are prohibited, except for minors and dependent persons.

For hospitalized patients, visits are prohibited, except with the agreement of the medical team for particular situations and specific sectors.
