After "more than ten years" of "wage shortage", the six unions of the Commissariat for Atomic Energy and Alternative Energies (CEA) are taking action.

In a press release on Tuesday, they called on strike the 20,000 employees of this public research establishment in the fields of defense and security, nuclear and renewable energies or industry.

"The issue of remuneration, which falls under (the) general administrator" of the CEA and "the line ministries, is at the heart of the demands", specify the unions CFDT, CFE-CGC, CGT, Unsa, FO and CFTC of the CEA , who “filed a national unanimous strike notice”.

According to these unions, it was during "many general meetings" that "the staff decided to go on strike to coordinate actions on all ten CEA sites" Tuesday.

The unions demand "an increase in wages"

"It has been more than 10 years since the State has given any room for maneuver to reassess the value of the index point of wages and bonuses (hardship, penalties, travel costs, etc.)", protest in their press release the six organizations "united in inter-union".

All these years without revaluation "impact the purchasing power of CEA employees in a world of research, yet in global competition", they underline.

The unions demand "a revaluation of wages by an increase in the value of the point, recognition of professional experience and better management of arduousness", they detail.

An increase in the value of the point would "maintain the purchasing power of employees with regard to inflation", they add.

The old ones have the same salary as the new ones

"All starting salaries were revalued last month, but there is still nothing for the employees already in place," said Christophe Ratin, of the CGT. "Those who have been hired in the last five or six years", who have accumulated experience and seniority at the CEA, receive "the same salary as the new ones", he criticized.

In their press release, the unions note that the employees of this public establishment "work every day to ensure missions related to the sovereignty of France", in areas such as "nuclear deterrence", "medicine of the future "," Cybersecurity "," industry 4.0 "or even" energy independence and sovereignty ".

“To create the France of tomorrow, develop areas of excellence, reindustrialize the regions and ensure the transition, we must certainly attract talent, but above all know how to keep it”, they point out.
