Former US National Security Adviser David Bolger takes a positive approach in his view of US and Russian relations, and this is evidenced by the fact that the two countries are part of the international community, in addition to being nuclear powers in the world.

Speaking to an episode (6/12/2021) of the "Beyond the News" program, the American guest expected that there would be a positive and frank discussion between US Presidents Joe Biden and Russian Vladimir Putin in the virtual summit, stressing that the Ukraine file will top the agenda of the summit, along with other files. .

He considered that Russia's mobilization of about 490,000 soldiers on the border with Ukraine would pose problems during the summit, and that Biden would be frank with Putin and would address him, saying, "Vladimir, I know what you think, but do not do that," recalling - in response to a question on the issue of NATO expansion NATO - Washington's position on Russia's control of the Crimea in 2014, as the US President wants his Russian counterpart not to repeat what happened, and for his country to act as a friendly neighbor with its partners in the region.

It is expected that a virtual summit will be held between the US President and his Russian counterpart, amid tensions between the two countries, the most important of which is the dispute over Ukraine.

Bloomberg newspaper had revealed a sharp verbal altercation between the US and Russian foreign ministers over Ukraine a few days ago.

Russian position

Contrary to the position of the American guest, Yevgeny Boginsky, a military and strategic expert and deputy head of the Russian Council for International Affairs, describes Washington and Moscow's relations as in their worst condition, and the situation between them has never deteriorated to this extent.

And Boginsky ruled out that the issue of Ukraine will top the main files on the agenda of the virtual summit between Putin and Biden.

Regarding Washington warning Moscow in the event of an attack on Ukraine, the Russian guest stressed that his country does not fear any threats or sanctions, because Washington had previously imposed 86 packages of sanctions, noting that the mobilization of 490,000 soldiers on the border aims to deter Ukraine, which he said, in turn, mobilized 125 thousand soldiers in the Dombas region.

He recalled the Russian position in 2014, and said that Putin's behavior came after a coup against the state in Ukraine, and there was no revolution of dignity, stressing that Moscow did not control the Crimea, but rather the latter joined Russia after a referendum.

On the other hand, the military and strategic expert stressed that Putin wants guarantees that NATO will not come close to the Russian borders.
