Cheng Yonghua gave an academic speech titled "The Role of Cultural Exchanges in Sino-Japanese Relations" and pointed out that China and Japan, as the world's second and third largest economies, have shown a phenomenon of "cold politics and hot economics" in recent years.

Based on the key role of cultural exchanges in Sino-Japanese relations in ancient and modern times, Cheng Yonghua believes that the extensive intersection of cultural values between China and Japan is an important starting point for connecting the hearts of the Chinese and Japanese people.
He encouraged humanists, including researchers from the Institute of Letters of the Academy of Social Sciences, to use culture as a bridge to tell Chinese stories carefully, get acquainted with each other, and communicate with common interests.

The "Cross-Cultural Forum" was hosted by Liu Yuhong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of the Institute of Letters of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
