In Burma, Aung San Suu Kyi faces multiple prosecutions by the military junta which overthrew her in the February 1 coup.

With former President Win Myint, the 1991 Nobel Peace Prize laureate has just been sentenced to two years in prison for inciting violence and breaking the law against Covid-19.

Precision

Aung San Suu Kyi's prison sentence has been reduced from four to two years, the junta leader finally announced on Monday, quoted by Burmese national television.

Former President Win Myint, who was sentenced to the same terms, also saw his sentence reduced to two years.

They were prosecuted for inciting public disturbances and violating sanitary rules.

These sentences had given rise to serious concern in the international community.
