Chickens were found dead one after another at a poultry farm in Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, and avian influenza virus was detected as a result of genetic testing by the prefecture.

The prefecture has decided to slaughter about 30,000 chickens raised in this poultry farm.

According to Hiroshima Prefecture, on the afternoon of the 6th, a poultry farm in Fukuyama City contacted the eastern livestock farm of the prefecture saying that "the number of dead chickens is increasing."

As a result of a genetic test conducted by the prefecture, the "H5 type" avian influenza virus, which has a high mortality rate and is suspected to be highly pathogenic, was detected on the 7th.

For this reason, the prefecture has decided to slaughter approximately 30,000 chickens raised in this poultry farm from the 7th.

There are 6 poultry farms within a 10km radius of this poultry farm. The area within the area is designated as a "restricted export area" that prohibits shipping from that area, and related vehicles passing around the area will be disinfected.

Bird flu has been confirmed one after another in poultry farms in 6 prefectures, Akita, Kagoshima, Hyogo, Kumamoto, Chiba, and Saitama since November, and this is the first time that it has been confirmed in the Chugoku region this season.
