Leaking the privacy of minors, Xiaohongshu is not only dereliction of duty in review

According to CCTV reports, some elementary school students’ parents searched for “Parent-Child Paradise” on the “Xiaohongshu” App and found that some videos that clearly revealed the privacy of minors were pushed over.

The reporter found that the video shooters were all minors themselves, and the camera was directly aimed at their private parts when taking selfies with their mobile phones.

In response, "Xiaohongshu" responded that some of the content mentioned in the report had been processed before, and apologized for this, saying that a new round of special juvenile governance will be launched in the near future.

In recent years, the age of minors in my country for the first time on the Internet has been decreasing year by year, and there are more and more minor Internet users. As a result, the safety of their Internet use has attracted increasing attention.

But at the same time, there is a lack of more effective protection of minors’ activities on the Internet.

This not only reveals that the family level cannot correctly handle the relationship between minors and the Internet, but also reveals the lack of responsibilities in platform supervision and other aspects, resulting in frequent problems.

The network accident caused by the leaked audit is the latest example. The platform should pay its due price for its lack of responsibility.

Whether there is any organization, instigation or even coercion behind these uploading behaviors, they also need to be seriously investigated and dealt with in accordance with the law.

In the Internet age, it is unrealistic to keep minors away from the Internet completely, and it is also not conducive for children to better adapt to the current development of the digital society.

Therefore, a better way is to create a good network environment for minors and guide them to use the network safely.

For example, with regard to the issue of pushing the physical privacy of minors, regulatory authorities need to supervise and urge online platforms to keep their soil and accountable, and perform their daily audit and management responsibilities.

At the regulatory level, suspected infringements of the platform and related parties must also be punished in accordance with the law, draw a red line of the rule of law for them, and continue to maintain a high pressure situation.

In addition, families and schools must also be able to educate minors to use the Internet safely, such as guiding them to treat the Internet correctly and maintaining adequate vigilance and prevention of inappropriate information on the Internet.

In the final analysis, minor issues are no trivial matter. To protect the safety of minors’ use of the Internet, it is necessary for families, schools, education departments, online platforms and their supervisory departments to form a joint effort to fulfill their respective responsibilities and strengthen relevant issues. Education, create a good network environment, and build a "protective embankment" between the safety of the network and network hazards.

Only in this way can minors be able to enjoy the benefits of the Internet while avoiding its harm.
