In order for a friend to avoid an exam date, a 16-year-old is said to have sent a bomb threat to a vocational college in Hamm.
According to police investigations, he is said to have followed a call by a 21-year-old on social media.
The student is said to have asked for a threatening phone call in order to be able to avoid a follow-up exam, the police said on Friday.
A police spokesman suspects “showing off” behind the 16-year-old's action.
The youngster later went to the police himself and, according to investigators, admitted the threatening phone call.
The 16-year-old and the 21-year-old are now being investigated for disturbing the public peace by threatening to commit a criminal offense.
In addition, it will be checked whether the two have to pay compensation for the deployment that has been triggered.
The threatening phone call triggered a police operation in the vocational college in mid-November.
No explosives were found during the search.
