The health authorities of the town of

Biella

(Piedmont, northern Italy) have reported to the police a man who tried to be vaccinated using a silicone arm in order to obtain the COVID health certificate.

This is how Il Corriere della Sera advances it.

The man, about 50 years old, went to a vaccination center this Thursday, where the nurse in charge of the supply noticed, at the time of the puncture, that he was showing an arm with

a silicone very similar to the skin

, spanning from the shoulder to the deltoid muscle, where the needle is inserted.

At first, he believed that the man had suffered an amputation and had presented him with the wrong arm, so in order not to put him in an uncomfortable situation, he asked for the other, explained the health worker, Filippa Bau, to Corriere.

But seeing that he was showing her a silicone arm "exactly like the other one", the nurse realized that the man was trying to trick her into giving him the drug in a fake arm.

"I realized, in an instant, that the man in front of me was

trying to evade vaccination

using a silicone prosthesis into which he expected me to unknowingly inject the drug into him," he explained.

Once discovered, the man tried to convince her to "ignore it" and continue with the charade, to which she refused and called in her superiors.

Finally, the man acknowledged that he had tried to trick them to

get the new reinforced health certificate

that only vaccinated people or those who have had the disease can have and that from next Monday it will be necessary to be able to access the interior of bars, restaurants, places of leisure and public buildings.

The

local

health

authorities presented a complaint to the police, who have reported the events to the Prosecutor's Office.

The president of the Piedmont region, Alberto Cirio, was very upset by "the seriousness of this gesture" and highlighted "the sacrifice" in terms of "human lives and social and economic costs" that the pandemic is costing.

The

new health certificate

of reinforcement will be added from this Monday to the current document, which also includes holders of a negative antigen test, and which is necessary to work, access public transport and transit through commercial areas.

These measures are aimed at further boosting vaccination in the country, which is around 85% of the population with the full schedule and 45.66 percent with the additional or booster dose.
