It's not just Covid-19 that is actively circulating at the moment.
For several weeks now, the avian influenza virus has been spreading at full speed in several regions of the world.
France is no exception with a first outbreak of avian flu which was detected at the end of November in a poultry farm in the Nord department.
On Wednesday, the virus was also detected in two wild geese who were staying on a pond in the town of Languidic, we learned from the Morbihan prefecture.
As avian flu is an extremely contagious disease which can affect all species of domestic and wild birds, measures were immediately taken by the authorities.
Backyard birds confined to buildings
A temporary control zone was thus set up over a radius of 5 km around the pond.
In the municipalities concerned, birds kept for commercial purposes must be sheltered and backyard birds confined in buildings.
