Let's go for the Trans Musical meetings.

The 43rd edition of this festival, which is to welcome tens of thousands of people for five days, opened Wednesday evening in Rennes, against a backdrop of concerns about the health situation.

"They will be very special Trans Musicals but I think they will be great", launched Jean-Louis Brossard, co-founder in 1979 with Béatrice Macé of the emblematic festival, during the opening night, in the presence of the mayor. PS of Rennes Nathalie Appéré.

The difficulty of bringing groups

"I'll be happy next Monday when it's over!" ", Joked Jean-Louis Brossard, during an interview with AFP. “It's really a special edition (…) There it starts, so I'm happy (…) but when it's over, I'll be able to breathe, and say to myself: it went well! "

For the first time since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, the festival finds its audience with a health pass and compulsory mask.

“We hope that all the groups will arrive, because there have already been a lot of failures (…) It's normal, we are in a period which is very difficult,” added Jean-Louis Brossard.

Four groups, out of the 85 from around the world, have already had to cancel their participation, including three for health reasons.

"There must have been a group from South Africa and unfortunately they can not leave, everything is blocked (…) So I asked a group from Rennes, if they could replace them (…) and they have it. done ”, explained the one who still runs the festival.

Avoid a cluster

Tuesday, the prefect of Brittany Emmanuel Berthier called for the "responsibility of festival-goers" to avoid the formation of a cluster during the festival.

“It will be necessary to be masked, it will be necessary that each individual is really responsible for him and the others.

It is the base of life ”, abounded the boss of the Trans.

“Everything is planned so that people have a good Trans Musical, because the evenings are long, but it should go well!

".

This year, the festival expects to register 40,000 admissions, against 56,000 during the last public edition in 2019. Due to the pandemic, the Trans had been organized in digital format in 2020. The incidence rate of Covid-19 was 265.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in Ille-et-Vilaine over the week ended November 28, against 310.9 nationally, according to Public Health France.
