Armani made a commitment on Wednesday to ban Angora wool from its collections from the fall-winter 2022/2023 season.

The Italian fashion house is thus extending the list of prohibited materials as part of its policy on animal welfare.

Stylist Giorgio Armani said he was “happy” with this decision, a sign of the brand's commitment to “protecting nature”.

At Armani, "the percentage of clothing containing Angora wool is very low," added a spokesperson for the group.

“We plan to replace them with materials [meeting] the highest animal welfare standards.

The Armani Group announces its commitment to no longer use angora wool across all lines from the Fall Winter 2022/2023 season onwards, adding it to the list of excluded materials within its fur-free policy.

A commitment started in 2016

The Italian brand is thus following in the footsteps of other fashion heavyweights such as Gucci, Zara, Burberry or even H&M.

Peta had called in 2013 for a boycott of products made from Angora rabbit fur.

The animal rights organization accused, video in support, Chinese farms of plucking the hair on living animals.

According to Peta, 90% of the world's angora fur comes from China.

Angora wool is renowned for its silky, light texture.

Georgio Armani announced in 2016 to renounce any form of animal fur in his collections, assuring that there were now valid alternatives to these “cruel practices”.
