Regarding the disinfectant solution used as a countermeasure against the new coronavirus, the group of Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine summarized the research results that it was confirmed that the non-alcoholic type component has an effect on the virus attached to human hands for several hours. I did.

This research was conducted by a group such as Assistant Professor Ryohei Hirose of Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine.

In order to investigate the long-lasting effect of the hand disinfectant, the group applied eight types of chemicals used as the main ingredients to human skin, and then attached the new coronavirus to compare the effects.

As a result, in the case of the chemicals "benzalkonium chloride" and "chlorhexidine gluconate", which are used in many non-alcoholic disinfectants, the virus is detoxified in about 5 minutes and 4 hours after applying the disinfectant. It means that the effect continued.

On the other hand, in the case of ethanol, which is used as an alcohol-type disinfectant, the effect at the moment of application is considered to be high, but the virus attached later was not detoxified for more than 10 hours.

The group says that the non-alcoholic type is effective for maintaining the disinfection effect for a long time, and the alcohol type is effective for detoxifying the virus that has already adhered, and is calling for proper use according to the situation.

Assistant Professor Hirose says, "Since the non-alcoholic type has a long-lasting effect, the risk of infection can be reduced even if there is a disinfection interval. It may be possible to add the effect by using it in combination with an alcohol type disinfectant." ..
