It is suspected that a 49-year-old defendant who was arrested and charged in another arson case was involved in a fire that killed an 82-year-old woman in March when a two-story store and house burned down in Kitakyushu city. If so, police interviews with investigators revealed that the police had decided to re-arrest on suspicion of arson on the 1st.

On March 5, a two-story wooden house that doubled as a liquor store was burnt down in Yahatanishi-ku, Kitakyushu, and Ritsuko Morishige (82), who lives in this house, was found dead from the burnt remains.



According to the investigators, the police suspected arson and proceeded with the investigation by analyzing the images of the surrounding security cameras. A 49-year-old defendant, who was arrested and charged with an arson case, was found to have ignited a fire near a trash can near a liquor store's vending machine and spread to the building.



For this reason, the police have decided to re-arrest on suspicion of arson on the 1st, and will investigate the details.
