The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government announced on November 29 that it decided to set up three polling stations on the Hong Kong side of the Hong Kong/Shenzhen Border Control Zone.

The Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Zeng Guowei, said in a meeting with the media that the measure was designed to facilitate Hong Kong voters in the Mainland to return to Hong Kong to vote on the polling day of the Legislative Council election.

The election of the seventh legislative council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region will be held on December 19.

The SAR government stated on November 29 that it has decided to set up a polling station on the Hong Kong side of the Hong Kong/Shenzhen border control zone and consulted relevant mainland authorities to provide necessary assistance and support.

The Mainland immigration control department agreed to temporarily open the Liantang, Lo Wu, and Futian ports corresponding to the entry and exit control points of Heung Yuen Wai, Lo Wu, and Lok Ma Chau on the polling day.

Zeng Guowei emphasized that the SAR government will work hard to ensure that the Legislative Council elections are conducted in a fair, just, clean, safe and orderly manner. He also believes that under the new electoral system, the principle of "patriots ruling Hong Kong" will be fully implemented. The legislature can interact positively and effectively improve the governance effectiveness of the SAR.
