The man suspected of having stabbed his companion at the foot of his building on Friday in Epinay-sur-Seine (Seine-Saint-Denis) was indicted for "murder by spouse" and imprisoned, announced this Monday the Bobigny parquet.

The victim was returning home around 7.45 p.m. when his companion stabbed him several times.

He was pronounced dead an hour later.

A knife was found in a bush near the scene.

The companion, who had gone the same evening to the police station, admitted "globally the facts" during his custody, according to the prosecution in a statement Sunday.

Aged 51, he had just been released from prison for violence committed against his wife and indicated that he had come to wait for him "to discuss and recover documents and personal effects".

He "affirms to have come without intention" to kill her but had bought a kitchen knife before the meeting, had detailed this source.

He was sentenced on July 25 to one year in prison, including six months, for violence and threats committed against his partner on June 7. Since July, this woman had a serious danger phone, which allows you to urgently reach a remote assistance service to request the intervention of the police. The victim, mother of two daughters aged 5 and 14, had triggered her phone in serious danger on October 5, when her companion was downstairs from her home.

Part of the 50-year-old's reprieve was then revoked and he returned to prison.

He was finally released on November 17.

According to a recent report from the Ministry of the Interior, 146 women were victims of feminicides, that is to say killed by their spouse or ex-spouse in 2019, and 102 in 2020.
