A 52-year-old Indian businessman gave his 27-year-old bride a miniature replica of the famous Taj Mahal Palace, a house to live in.

Anand Prakash Choksi chose to build his architectural masterpiece in Burhanpur, in the state of Madhya Pradesh, central India.

"It's a gift for my wife, but at the same time a gift for the whole city, and all its inhabitants," Choxey told the BBC.

The construction of the new house cost about 260,000 US dollars, which is approximately 20 million rupees, in local currency, and was built on a 50-hectare plot of land.

Although it is a private building, the aesthetics of the place began to attract visitors. “People are walking on the grass, and taking pictures with their phones, and many people have started taking pictures near the palace during the celebration of weddings.”

He added, "I do not forbid anyone, this is all of our city, and we all live in a harmonious society and we know each other well, so my home is open to everyone."

But he made it clear that, of course, not everyone is allowed "to enter the palace, because in the end it is the house in which we live."

But sometimes the family allows some guests to walk around the palace, admiring the decorations, the lavish marble formations, and the windows carved in exquisite geometric shapes.

The building consists of two different floors, and includes a library, a meditation room, and a drawing room, containing several marble columns, in addition to a twisted staircase, and a ceiling decorated with gold.

The construction took about 3 years, during which Choksi and his wife visited the city of Agra, several times to visit the original Taj Mahal, and learn more of its details.

"We used a lot of 3D images of the Taj Mahal, which are found on the Internet, to be able to build our version," Choksi says, noting that the idea was to build a similar house, so the engineers decided to reduce the size to a third of the size of the Taj Mahal.

It is reported that the original Taj Mahal was built in the seventeenth century, in the city of Agra, by order of the Emperor, Shah Jahan, in honor of the memory of his wife, Queen Mumtaz, who died during the birth of their fourteenth son.
