Massive opposition.
The municipalities of Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon and La Mulatière, organized a referendum on Sunday "consultative" on the cable car project aiming to link Francheville to Lyon by 2026. The "no" prevailed overwhelmingly on the two municipalities while the defenders of the project, united in the Libre comme l'air collective, had called for a boycott of the ballot, believing that it was biased.
In Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon, 96.2% of voters rejected the Sytral project knowing that less than one in two voters went to the polls.
The turnout (42.9%) is the same as that recorded in the 2020 municipal elections but is higher than that of metropolitan (31.5% in the second round) and regional (41.8%).
What position for Syral?
At La Mulatière, the no won 94.3% of the vote.
Participation is lower: 30%.
Voters were hardly more mobilized during the regional elections (32.3%).
As a reminder, 37.76% of those registered on the electoral rolls had voted in the municipal elections.
It remains to be seen how Sytral, the only one able to decide on the future of this project, will receive its results.
And if it will take into account the opinion of local residents, concerned first and foremost by the routes of this future air link.
