Each year, the

Hollywood Reporter

honors a personality for his philanthropic action and the publication has chosen to congratulate Matthew McConaughey for 2021. If the actor is particularly invested in raising awareness around Covid-19 and in helping people affected by the crisis in 2020, the media especially wanted to honor its action following storm Uri which hit Texas last winter.

With his Just Keep Livin foundation, the actor had managed to raise $ 7.7 million to help the victims of the American state.

Matthew McConaughey and his wife Camila Alves created Just Keep Livin in 2008 with the goal of "empowering high school students by providing them with the tools they need to lead active lives and make healthy choices for a better future."

An application still pending

In recent months, rumors have been rife concerning a possible candidacy of the actor for the seat of governor of Texas, which he neither confirmed nor denied during his last interviews.

“I am a storyteller.

I am a boss.

But to be the boss of a state?

Am I better equipped to [care for] the people of this state, my family, or myself?

This decision involves great sacrifices (…) ”, questioned Matthew McConaughey during his interview with the

Hollywood Reporter

, admitting however that he will announce his decision shortly.

And for good reason: the deadline for submitting an application is set for December 13.
