At Daigoji Temple, a World Heritage Site in Kyoto City, a press conference was held before the special exhibition, which allows you to enter the inside of the five-storied pagoda, which is a national treasure, will be held for the first time from the 27th.

The five-storied pagoda of Daigoji Temple in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto is the oldest wooden building in Kyoto Prefecture built in the middle of the Heian period and is designated as a national treasure.

At Daigoji Temple, the general public can enter the five-storied pagoda to commemorate the 1100th anniversary of Kukai, who opened the Shingon sect, and received the name of "Kobo Daishi" from the Emperor Daigo at that time. Inside the first floor of the tower, there is a mural painting designated as a national treasure, of which the portrait of Kukai was painted in the middle of the Heian period, the same as the completion of the tower.

In addition to this, the painting "Mandala" that expresses the world view of Dainichi Nyorai and esoteric Buddhism is drawn on the board that covers the pillar in the center.

"We are feeling down because of the new corona, but I hope that the world of the mandala in the five-storied pagoda will bring us back to life," said Daigoji's chief executive officer, Yasumasa Kabase. I did.
