The 6th year students will have to carry out, from Monday, two self-tests per week, announced Friday morning the Minister of Education Jean-Michel Blanquer, justifying this measure by the fact that the children composing these classes are under 12 years old and are not vaccinated.

“The 6th year classes are a special case because the children are under 12 and are not vaccinated.

I am announcing a new measure that we are going to take: the distribution of self-tests to 6th year students, corresponding to two self-tests per week, ”Jean-Michel Blanquer said on France Inter.

"We will give a box of ten self-tests worth five weeks to 6th year students (...) National education will provide these ten self-tests which are to be carried out to families," he said, confirming that they would be available at from Monday.

The day before, the Minister had announced that there would be no more class closures in primary schools from the first case of Covid detected in a student.

Only those who test positive will be isolated.

12,000 closed classes

The number of classes closed because of the Covid-19 epidemic this week stands at 8,890, or 1.70% of classes in the country, the Ministry of National Education announced on Friday.

“It's a lot, it's important that it doesn't go too far.

We have already been up to 12,000 closed classes, I remind you, ”commented Jean-Michel Blanquer on France Inter.
