Walkers have recently discovered strange animals washed up on the beaches around Paimpol (Côtes-d'Armor).

The creatures that nobody managed to identify at first made their appearance in Beauport, Ploubazlanec and Trégastel (Côtes-d'Armor).

Their arrival shortly followed the powerful gusts of wind recorded during the night from Monday to Tuesday, notes

.

An internet user posted a photo of her discovery in Beauport on Monday on Facebook.

She described it as being "blue in color" and "from the jellyfish family," before asking, "Does anyone know the name of this animal?"

After having closely studied one of the specimens found on the sand, Julian Samson, one of the tutors at the Trégastel aquarium, thinks he has the answer.

A harmless animal

The mystery animal would in fact be a vellum.

“It has a blue float and a sail that allows it to be blown away,” explained the expert.

They are found in the North Sea, Channel, Atlantic, Caribbean, Pacific… They are often confused with jellyfish, because they are both hydrozoans ”.

The species can cause skin irritation.

It is not dangerous for humans but can however generate strong allergies in dogs.
