La République du Center

.

It will be built along the banks of the historic Orleans canal, bought in 2018 by the department.

Eighteen municipalities will be crossed by the cycle route.

Nine rest areas will also be installed, including three equipped with dry toilets, recharging points, bicycle racks and a picnic area.

8.7 million euros in annual revenues

In total, nearly 15 million euros will be disbursed to finance this work which will begin next year on the section between Châlette-sur-Loing and Presnoy (Loiret).

Widenings under particularly busy roads are planned in particular in Mardié, Sury-aux-Vois and Saint-Maurice-sur Fessard (Loiret), which could have an impact on road traffic in the coming years.

"Significant economic benefits are expected on the territory" thanks to cycle tourism, one explained to the department.

With 290 kilometers of cycle lanes in the Loiret, the economic benefits have been estimated at 8.7 million euros per year.
